She was "a little nervous" when we were getting all gussied up, but when the time came she did great.

And, sorry its not one of the more exciting parts, but it is one of the most enjoyable for Jeff and I! :)

We removed a fence type thing that was behind the light post out front and cleaned up the flower beds.

Cleaned up the front beds and added LOTS of potted plants and estate sale finds for some new-to-us decorations!

The NEW Back corner, home of our wonderful raised garden beds!

Jeff built these amazing raised beds out of recycled 2x4's purchased from the Eco-Store they have brick walking paths around the sized made out of extra brick from our house.

We've planted tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, carrots, cantaloupe and several different herbs.

Mara even lent a hand and helped make the labels for some of the herbs! :)

And since I know many of you out there are fellow conservers.... here's our rain barrel!

We got a chance to spend an evening playing at Antelope park last week, it was so much fun!

Mara LOVED getting to run around and play! I had forgotten how much fun Antelope was! It was definitely the place to be! Lots of action.

And of course I loved the opportunity to snap some photos of Miss Mara while she was running and playing. These may be some of my favorites of the toot yet. :)

Our house hunt is still going strong! We'll let you know as soon as there is any exciting news! One nice thing, since everything's already in storage we don't have to pack (again)!

Here are some fun pictures from Easter morning, the bunny came while we were at church, and Mara had SO MUCH fun looking for and counting her eggs.

Her basket was filled with fun, but our day was also filled with so many blessings. It was wonderful to share the day together with family, good food, and love.

First are some photos of Mara Easter egg hunting, and second because my mom's tables are always worth of a post of their own, they are something to make Martha Stewart herself jealous, the second set of pictures is of our table.

Okay... so Peter Pan said it a LITTLE differently, but our Easter Egg dying was also an adventure! Here's some pictures of Mara decorating her eggs with her Aunt Audi, she was concentrating really hard to make sure they were good and glittery!

One of my goals of 2010 was to post 52 of the Scott Family's Favorite Things, well, one a week, for the year. I've done ONE so far! So I need to play a little catch up!

The top of Mara's list ever since Christmas has been her Barbies, but bumped WAY up there was the chance to play with Mema's and Nini's Barbies from when they were young girls. I don't have any pictures of Mema's barbie's, but I'm guessing the expression on Mara's face wasn't much different than the one she gets while playing with Nini's! :)

Snow what fun it is...

Mara's DEFINITELY been enjoying the snow this season, she is one person I think will be sad to see it go, well her and her dad, Jeff has enjoyed playing with her in the snow equally as much. Which works out quite well for me... since I am a pretty big fan of taking pictures of them playing in the snow!

Pauley Christmas

After opening gifts at Nini and Gramps house Mema and Grandpa braved the snow in their 4 wheel drive to come pick us up so we could celebrate the Pauley family Christmas!

I am so glad they did.

Having to work extra hard to get to where we were going, and having to hear lots of stories from friends who missed out on their normal Christmas traditions made me appreciate and ever so grateful for ours. It was such a blessing to spend the afternoon together. Although the weather prevented us from being able to visit Gordon at Madonna, the spirit of Christmas, and Love of family was warmly felt among all, which was a true reflection of Gordon and Phyllis and the importance placed on family and togetherness. So while Gordon was not there with us physically, Gordon's spirit, laughter and love was present through the loving family he has helped create.

Christmas morning was so much fun!

Stockings were overflowing and hearts were full!!! :) But the best was the time spent together around the tree! Opening presents with Mara was so much fun, she really got into passing them out and helping everyone else open as well.

Santa was the big winner with the big doll house and the princess doll set. Also the Princess Super Why set as well. The snow just kept falling and falling and falling!

David Lux said it best during the Christmas eve service... who ever was wishing for a white Christmas... please stop. :)

Family "Crap" Night

Several years ago my mom started a tradition of our family sitting down together at Christmas and making some sort of craft decoration together. The first several years they were ornaments for a themed tree, they all bring a smile to my face when I get them out of the box each year. The one with stick figures of Jeff and I drawn on it in glitter glue, which I splattered ALL over the living room, and there is still evidence of on my parents fire place. The sparkley star candle holders that make a huge mess, but are so beautiful.

The past two years we have made "stockings" last year we decorated red and green beach buckets, but this year, my mom had us decorate "bags" made out of stiff felt material. The bottom and sides had been connected, but it was up to us to decorate and then whip stitch them together up the sides, it was a lot of fun! So much fun in fact, on collage wouldn't cover it, there's two! :)

OH! And family CRAFT night, was affectionately renamed to family crap night several years ago by Jeff, and well its kind of stuck.

The weather prohibited most of Mara's class from attending their party, but it was still fun! Notice... she hasn't needed much training to begin her diva status.

Also take not of her location during the group photo! Ummm... I believe the words they use to politely describe children like mine are spunky, charismatic, quirky, creative, energetic... precocious (I know my mom heard that one at a parent teacher conference or two...)

Christmas Ring and Sing

Here come those long over due Holiday posts I've been telling you about! ;)
This first one is Mara's Christmas Program at church, the Christmas Ring and Sing. All of our choirs perform and then there is a soup supper together afterward, it's always a fun time.

Mara's Cherub choir performed first, they sang Away in the Manger and Joy to the World/Jingle Bells. As her choir got situated to sing their first song Mara announced loudly that she needed to go potty... so it was off we went! We made it, and hurried back just in time for her to sing joy to the world. She did about as well as could be expected for a three year old to sit through an over hour long "concert" below her performance picture are a few shots of her close to 1,000 different positions during the concert. :)

Well, I'm taking a few moments tonight to get all caught up with my photography and such, thought I won't make it all the way through. :) I'll at least have Thanksgiving done now that Christmas is only 2 weeks (yikes!!!) away!

We have definitely been given plenty of opportunities to appreciate how blessed we truly are this past year, so this Thanksgiving was one with abundant love and gratitude to all of the gifts we've been given.

In our Thanksgiving prayer before our meal, I used a line from a Quaker prayer, Us and This be Blessed. I wish blessings upon you and yours this holiday season.

I am just having the hardest time believing that our little Miss Mara pants is three years old. She's just becoming such a little girl, I feel like the toddler years have already just flashed by!

Mara's original birthday party had to be postponed. :( A few days before she came down with Hand Foot and Mouth disease. She felt pretty ucky for a few days there... in no real shape to party. But we still got her a cake to celebrate and she opened a few of her gifts that day. She is really starting to get the hang of this present thing. :)

One week later we had the real shin dig... when I asked Mara what kind of birthday party she wanted originally I had all kinds of scary visions of plastic Dora the explorer birthday cakes bouncing through my head... BUT much to my surprise Mara's immediate and very enthusiastic response was a Cupcake Party! So, we had a theme and were off and running! Here are her invitations:

Oh wow did Mara have a blast!!! She is a roller coaster loving maniac!

She had a blast at each and every part of the fair. She loved seeing all the animals in the petting zoo, and when we watched the "grand parade" at noon while eating lunch, she quickly figured out that if you wave at the people passing by they will throw candy at you. Each and every person got a huge wave and heartfelt smile from Miss Mara! Mara's favorite part would have to be the rides! She made a new friend on everyone she rode on and said, I want to do it again mommy! After each one!

We knew she had a great time because on the way home she fell asleep funnel cake in hand!

Hello All! I hope your fourth festivities were fun and safe!

Mara and the cousins had a BLAST! (Pun intended) We started the day by visiting the annual Cripple Creek Fourth of July celebration, but ended up playing at the park most of the time.

While preparing for Auntsy Nancy's (or Nancy Pants, or Nini, insert your favorite nick name here....) evening party the kids practiced their jumping for joy while I practiced my photography. I think we both had lots of fun.

We really had a great week with the Ragain's here, Mara sure loves her cousins! We took a trip to the zoo as well during the week, so I'll post those pictures soon as well. Undies and Camels

Tonight while we getting ready for bath time Mara put on my gloves and said Mommy! I need to wear the gloves so the camels don't get on my skin! (Umm.... I think you mean chemicals sweetheart.) Jeff and I have started a book of Maraisms.... Kids really do say the darnedest things. Some of our favorites:

In the car on the way home from school today Mara proceeded to tell Jeff that her bug bite was a Nickel. Jeff quickly figured out she was saying... NIPPLE. HA!

Well folks! Its OFFICIAL! Mara's a big kid! Panties and all! She's down to pull ups only when sleeping now!!!! I can't believe it! We have a few accidents here and there, but hey, that's to be expected!

Mara's also started her new "school" at Cedars downtown, she's just a half a block away from me and a few more from Daddy and we are loving having her so close! When she gets just a bit more comfortable I'll be able to start walking over and having lunch with her!

Summer is here with a vengeance! We are looking forward to our annual summer visit the Ragain's! I am sure there will be lots of fun stories and pictures to share!

We headed out to the College World Series this weekend we tailgated outside of the stadium the whole time and played yard games and had a fun time with friends! Mara LOVED playing Frisbee with the guys, but also holding baby Barrett too! :)

Mara's new favorite Saturday activity is going to the Farmer's Market in Lincoln. Our first stop is always orange juice at the coffee shop and then off to get her very own bag of kettle corn. One of our last stops as well is to see the "bow lady" Mara likes to get a new bow or flower for her hair. :)

Mara and I went to visit Aunt Jilly and her new baby boy Kruz. :) Mara completely fell in love with him and wanted to take care of him right away. She settled for carting a baby doll around in a car seat instead of the real thing eventually.

Mara and Mommy, along with some friends from church headed out to Vala's Pumpkin Patch today (Saturday) for a fun filled afternoon! Mara LOVED every second! She really enjoyed going down each of the slides, riding the train, but most of all LOVED bouncing on the giant pumpkin jump trampoline with Lexi.

In other fun news, Mara has OFFICIALLY moved to her BIG GIRL bed! It is so cute! I'll do two separate slide shows so you can see all of them! :D

Hello all! Its official! Mara's TWO!

Her two year check up went great, She is 29 pounds and 34 inches. And doing great!

Mara's Grandmas and Grandpas and Aunts/Uncles all came to celebrate her birthday with us this evening.

She LOVES all of her new toys! She had a blast.

Has it really been over two months since I last checked in? I am sorry!!!! :D We have had a crazy summer!

I took at trip to Rapid City South Dakota, and New York City on my mission trips with church, and we took a family vaca to Table Rock Lake in Missouri! All three were so much fun! Mara is getting SO BIG! I can't believe the little booger is almost TWO! She is still LOVING school (what we call day care...) and is so curious about everything! She repeats everything you say and is stringing together sentences now!

My favorite little thing shes done lately to show what a little genius she is, is while we were watching Sesame Street the other day Abby Cadabby lost her friends and was upset about it, and Mara looked at me and said... "mommy, abby sad" It was AMAZING, no one on the show said the word sad or anything, Mara just knew! I'm telling ya! She's a smarty.

Well our biggest news is.... WE WENT TO BED WITH OUT A BINKY TONIGHT!!!!!!!!!!! I don't want to jinx anything.... but we took the plunge and so far so good... say some prayers for us please!

I am getting ready to start school on Tuesday! I am pretty excited and nervous all at once. My classes are on Tuesdays from 1-330 and then 5-845, so I am going to be driving down on Tuesday mornings staying the night and then coming back on Wednesdays in time for Rotary, and all of our Wednesday night business at church. :) Keep us in your prayers during that transition as well please! :)

Mara is really talking up a storm these days! EVERYTHING is repeated back to you! She's growing so fast!

I am getting ready to take off early Sunday morning for my first mission trip of the summer... Daddy is going to be with Mara all week, and they will have so much fun, but I sure am going to miss her!!!!!! :D

We had some of Jeff's co-workers over for a pot luck to prepare for their Sand in the City event for the Nebraska Children's Home. After the work was done, Mara enjoyed joining them for a few games of ping pong in the garage!

We had such a good time in Kansas City over the weekend! It was nice to get away!

Mara did great! She was such a trooper and rode in her stroller most of the day, and was a hoot!

She did get a little car sick on they way up, luckily only about 5 minutes before we go there, but it was interesting that's for sure! Turns out Mara's car seat is not so easy to clean!

Our memorial weekend was lots and lots of fun!

Friday we had our neighbors and some friends over for dinner! MASS CHAOS! We had 5 kids under the age of 3 running around the house! It was a good time, but we decided next time maybe it should be dinner for just us adults!

Saturday we went to Lincoln in the morning and headed to the farmers market, then to Nini and Gramp's house then to cousin Sean's graduation party!

Sunday was Myles Giffords 1st Birthday Party at the Big Sandy! Mara LOVED LOVED LOVED the sand and water! I am STILL kicking myself for forgetting my camera! Then Sunday afternoon/evening we spent out in the garden, along with ALL day on Monday! Its starting to look pretty nice!
